George Tate grew up here in Southern California in the 70's, and started to play tennis at the age of 11. He was a High School and Junior College All American where he played #1 singles. As a League and Conference Champion, he accepted a full Tennis Scholarship to Oral Roberts University where he was Conference Champion in teh #3 position.
George served in the United States Army for 4 years, spending most of his time overseas in Heidelberg , Germany as a signal soldier. During his tour of duty, George was able to become the European Armed FOrces Champion, along with playing as a member of the All Army Tennis Team. George helped the team to successfully win the Inter-service Championship each of the 3 years. Upon Completing his term of duty, he then stayed in Germany to play Professional Tennis within the German Tennis CLuv system for 3 years, playing #1 position. He also helped to train and select the members of the All Army Tennis Team from 1990 - 1998. He has taught in Germany, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina, Maine, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. He is very happy to be here with Craig Johnson and the Grip N' Rip Staff. George is also a member of NBTC and was Club Champion in 2007. He also is Certified with the UPSPTA.
His hobbies include all water sports, bicycling, snow skiing, moutain climbing, and golf, But mostly TENNIS. He wants to help make tennis a positvie experience for all children and their parents.
